Safer, just look at the western side of each map.

The FF10 one features what could become Wutai, and the Zanarkand Ruins at the north are rather closes to the Northern Crater.

This could take generations of Shinras to perfect Mako energy, so needless to say the continents drifted during that time.
Proof of this is when OUR world was first formed, it was one giant continent known as Pangaea but over MANY MANY MANY years, it became what we know it as.

For one the graphics of the PSX/1 could possibly not handle the effects of the pyreflies, so Square altered it into a red flash and dissappearance.
Two, Advent Childre.
When Kadaj dies near the end, notice how he disintergrates into pyreflies? The graphics are more advanced in AC though, and the pyreflies were either added to add to this debate or to further show of the CG.

I'll have to agree with cloud on this one. There are alot of similarities to the map, and the story to. In 7 they say that weapons come out when the planed feels like it's in danger. So sin could be an early form of the weapons that need a host to be used. The pyerflies thing is a good point to. The graphics in 7 couldn't handle those kinds of graphics, but Advent Children could. And to say for cetra and Jenova. This may have been thousands of years befor 7's story. So I don't think Jenova would have been around. And as for the cetra, they could be summoners who continued the traditoin of the pilgramage. But after thousands of years there powers progressed to the power of the cetra. Shinra undoubtably had kids. He may also have written down his studies to pass down to his children, and through the years, it was worked on till it was perfected. The power of the materia, could be like the dresspheres were in X-2. After thousands of years you would think they would evolve to 7's Materia. The summons could have done the same thing. Cause if you notice, throughout the game no matter how hard you look, you can't FIND 2 of the same summons. You have to master it to get a second.

They said you were as pretty as a picture, I laughed and said, Yeah, lets hang it.

Ok, Safer.
Materia is condensed MAKO.
Mako is basically processed lifestream so it's half the planet and half man made, just like steel basically.

As for the Weapons, Omega Weapon and Ultima Weapon already exist in the Omega Ruins. But Omega isn't planet made, he's created out of hatred (I think)

Also, Dressspheres are normally obtained along with a normal sphere, found in caves.
NOT Technologically made, but naturally made: Similar to Materia in it's own sense

Safer...
You find spheres in caves and very often obtain a dressphere with it.
For example after fighting Boris the spider at the start of X-2, you'll obtain the sphere which shows a movie of Zanarkand. Shinra finds this useless and points out that it'll make a dressphere (Black Mage for extra credit Big Smile)

HEY!!! I JUST FIGURED SOMETHING!!!!!

The Changes started to happen after the events in the end of FFX If you'll all direct your attention to Sin's gynormous attack he makes just before you start the process of whooping his ass you'll notice that the Moon in pulled closer to the earth, not to mention a whole shitload of a strange landmass is vaporised because there is no damage in Spira!!!!

Anyone would know that the distance of the moon from a planet influenced the tidal happens in said planet. Just having a few centimeters out of orbit would throw off the entire planet and probably make it uninhabitable in the end if not change the way everything is shaped, reavealing new landmasses or even sinking other ones.... it would explain why the Aincients village was made out of shells if it had been covered in water at one point wouldn't it?

Tongue sticking out

You'll always know I'm there... but if the high pitched noise is getting louder it's time to RUN!
