Blue Magic

Below is a list of all the "Monster-Learned" blue magic abilities that are found within the game. Each blue mage ability has a corresponding description and where and what monsters they are learned from.


GOBLIN PUNCH - 8 MP

Effect: Damage inflicted varies, dealing potential high or low damage.
Range: 1
Learn: Goblin
Tip: Known to be found in the missions "Newbie Hunt" and "The Dark Blade".


MAGIC HAMMER - 8 MP

Effect: Causes Damage to MP.
Range: 3
Learn: Red Cap
Tip: Known to be found in the mission "Help Helje".


ACID - 12 MP

Effect: Inflicts a random Status ailment.
Range: 3
Learn: Flan


BLOW UP - 2 MP

Effect: Use all of your remaining HP to explode and cause damage to adjacent units.
Range: All adjacent units
Learn: Bomb, Grenade
Tip: Known to be found in the mission "Help Roda".


MIGHTY GUARD - 8 MP

Effect: Increases Weapon Defense and Magic Resistance for the rest of the battle.
Range: 1
Learn: IceDrake
Tip: Wild Monsters Clan.


GUARD OFF - 10 MP

Effect: Decreases Weapon Defense and Magic Resistance for the remainder of the battle.
Range: 1
Learn: FireWyrm


DRAGON FORCE - 12 MP

Effect: Increases Weapon attack and Magic attack.
Range: 1
Learn: ThunderDrake
Tip: ThunderDrakes are only be found in regular missions.


NIGHT - 24 MP

Effect: Puts everyone to sleep, except who casts it
Range: All
Learn: Lamia
Tip: Jagd Emissaries Clan.


TWISTER - 20 MP

Effect: Reduces HP by 50%. Can affect multiple targets.
Range: 3
Learn: Lileth
Tip: Tubola Bandits Clan.


L3 DEFENSE-LESS - 12 MP

Effect: Decreases target's Defense if their level is a multiple of 3.
Range: 3
Learn: AntLion, Jawbreaker
Tip: Antlion Clan.


MATRA MAGIC - 24 MP

Effect: Switches current HP and MP of target.
Range: 3
Learn: ToughSkin
Tip: Tubola Bandits Clan.


POISON CLAW - 8 MP

Effect: Poisons and damages target.
Range: 1
Learn: Red Panther
Tip: Kudik Beasts Clan.


HASTE BREAK - 12 MP

Effect: Inflicts "stop" status only if target has "haste" status, otherwise inflicts "slow" status.
Range: 1
Learn: Coeurl
Tip: Known to be found in the missions "Help Nargai" and "Help Helje".


BAD BREATH - 20 MP

Effect: Inflicts 5 random status ailments.
Range: 1
Learn: Malboro, Big Malboro
Tip: Known to be found in the mission "Help Eluut".


STARE - 12 MP

Effect: Causes Confusion if target is facing the castor.
Range: 2 (only in the direction and diagonals from where castor is facing)
Learn: FloatEye
Tip: Aisen Ghosts Clan.


ROULETTE - 20 MP

Effect: Randomly Inflicts KO on one unit.
Range: All
Learn: Ahriman
Tip: Bloodthirsters Clan, Jagd Emissaries Clan. (must have status: Auto-Life or nullify-Zombie)


DRAIN TOUCH - 10 MP

Effect: Damage dealt is absorbed by the castor.
Range: 1
Learn: Zombie
Tip: Aisen Ghosts clan, Tubola Bandits Clan.


L? S-FLARE - 30 MP

Effect: Deals damage to all units that have the same last digit in their Level, including the castor.
Range: All
Learn: Vampire
Tip: Bloodthirsters Clan.


WHITE WIND - 12 MP

Effect: Heals multiple units. Heal HP=Castor's HP.
Range: 3
Learn: Sprite
Tip: Known to be found in the missions "Help Eluut" and "Help Helje". Tricky Spirits Clan, Tubola Bandits Clan.


ANGEL WHISPER - 24 MP

Effect: Heals and bestows Auto-Life status.
Range: 3
Learn: Titania
Tip: Tricky Spirits Clan.




Below is a list of all the "Job-Learned" blue mage skills in the game.


DAMAGE TO MP - 300 AP

Effect: Take MP damage instead of HP damage.
Equip: Judo Uniform
Tip: 2nd shop upgrade


LEARNING - 400 AP

Effect: Need to be active support Ability to learn Abilities from Animals.
Equip: Blue Saber
Tip: 2nd shop upgrade


IMMUNITY - 300 AP

Effect: Immune to some status ailments.
Equip: Survival Vest
Tip: 2nd shop upgrade


BLUE COMBO - 100 AP

Effect: Allows Blue Mage to do Combos.
Equip: Mythril Saber
Range: 4




Extra Hints and Tips:


- To learn "monster-learned" blue magic, the monster must use the corresponding ability on the character trying to learn that ability.

- For a quicker and easier way to learn blue magic (just like in FF7), use the "Control" ability on a monster to force the monster to use the blue magic on you.

- You must have the Blue Mage's "Learning" job-ability as your support ability, regardless of what Job you are, in order to learn the "monster-learned" blue magic abilities.

- The "Steal: Ability" does not apply to trying to learn blue magic.

- One blue mage can not teach another blue mage any blue magic by casting it on each other. Blue magic can only be learned from a monster casting it on you.

- For the sake of trying to learn the "BLOW UP" ability, similar to other Final Fantasy games, the "Bomb" or "Grendade" monsters must have very little health left before they will choose to use the ability.

- For the sake of trying to learn the "ROULETTE" ability, similar to other Final Fantasy games, the character trying to learn this ability MUST have "Auto-Life" or "nullify-Zombie" status in order to live through the attack. (if you die from the monster ability you 'just learned', you will then un-learn it and have to try again)
