At the Gate Crystal section, talk to a Bangaa captain in front the cabin, he's around South-West. Now you're starting the first rare monster hunt. Move to South-East most area, head up to the hill and wait. After awhile, the first rare monster will appear at the bottom, just go down and defeat it, then back to the Bangaa captain. Start from now, you can search more other rare monsters in the whole Ivalice. Some might actually shown before you start the quest, but the rare mosnter which drops the Engage/Trophy Items will only spawn after starting this quest. Rare monsters which drop Engage items (name Trophy for US version) would only appear once, after defeating it will never appear anymore. Collect Engage items can trade for other things from the Bangaa race in Phon Coast. The Hunt Shop near there sell different items depend on which Bangaa has the Engage items. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/sephiroth_y/Guide/hunt_shop.jpg About the items dropped from the monster, a few of them you can steal the items which are properly drop after you have kiiled it, but if you do so, it won't drops the stolen item after defeating it. Stealing item from rare monsters is much more harder then other enemies. Item drops from rare monster are rare and random except Engage/Trophy Item, sometimes they might drops nothing after defeating them.
